At Great American Plates, one of our most rewarding and engaging initiatives is introducing the joy of license plate collecting to young enthusiasts—affectionately known as our “tin kids.” We’re fortunate to have an incredible partner in this mission: Miss Heidi Kovach, a passionate second-grade teacher who brings creativity and enthusiasm to her classroom.
Miss Kovach regularly invites our team to share the history of license plate collecting and the story of Great American Plates with her students. During our visits, kids get hands-on experience exploring license plates from their birth states or countries. They love learning about state mottos, state birds, and fascinating historical facts behind each plate.
The highlight for many students? Discovering that their beloved Miss Heidi is also part of the Great American Plates family—working with us part-time! It’s always a moment of awe and excitement.
Through this collaboration, we’re proud to help spark curiosity, teach American history in a fun and interactive way, and nurture the next generation of license plate collectors.
