Where do you get your plates?
We started out as hobbyists, but now I guess you could say we’re fanatics. We get our plates everywhere from collector shows and individual collectors, to antique shops, yard sales, friends and family. Some of the plates we’ve bought recently for the purpose of resale and others we’ve had for years and have only recently gotten around to cataloging.
What is the quality of your plates?
Some plates are in near mint condition, some look like they’ve been around the barn floor for a couple of decades. That’s the beauty of plate collecting. Some collectors want pristine finishes, others want as interesting a patina as time can produce. Our online store displays among the clearest and largest plate images of any collector site. We want you to know exactly what you’re buying.
Can I return a plate if I’m not satisfied?
Any plate can be returned or exchanged for any reason within 30 days, no questions asked. You only need to pay to ship it back to us, and it needs to be in the same condition it was when you bought it.
Can I buy a plate over the phone?
Sure, but you’ll need to be patient. If you see a plate you’d like and want to talk with us directly, please give us a call. But please note, we’ve got “day jobs” and you’ll probably need to leave a message and get a call back.
How do I know my personal information is secure?
Whether you pay with a major credit card, your payment transaction is handled by Stripe, one of the largest, most secure and most trusted transaction processing companies in the world. Their payment process uses secure SSL encryption technology, the most advanced in the industry, to secure online transactions. Additionally, our website is also secured through SSL encryption – so submissions to us area also encrypted. Great American Plates handles your personal information according to our privacy policy. Can I buy more than one of a certain plate style?
No. We specialize in dealing in one-of-a-kind collectables. If you are looking for a collection of plates – contact us in our concierge service.
Do you participate in any shows where I could see the plates in person?
Great American Plates attends several collector shows each year (check our schedule here). You could also join our mailing list and be notified of our show schedule.
How do I contact you if I have a plate I think you might like to buy?
