With a beautiful morning sunrise as my guide, east-bound to Vero Beach was a pleasant journey, for sure…particularly as a complete collection of 150 Wisconsin license plates awaited my arrival at the home of Jack Lucas, former owner and barkeep of the Village Pump in Solon Springs, Wisconsin…while we can’t attest to the cuisine at this very-far north eatery, we can tell you Jack is a terrific personality who shares a lot of the same collector’s DNA as yours truly…it was a sincere pleasure to make his acquaintance and share a few laughs together…the true joy of this crazy license plate hobby/business!…so upon my return home, I shared the experience with my License Plate Princess, ‘awarding’ her the two most-prized plates Jack gifted me…along with the news we now had 150 more goodies to add to the GAP inventory…her reaction is captured in the attached photo, drinking a toast to Jack and the Village Pump…in the end she was relieved I hadn’t bought one of his antique gas pumps, hence the name!…pour another one, Jack, and thanks!
