A few days ago a group of my former Palmetto High School classmates met at Shorty’s BBQ in Kendall (Miami), FL to relive ‘old times’…it was a great session!…and like many local restaurants, Shorty’s has used antique license plates to adorn its walls to welcome customers ‘from all over!”…so, that led me to share my license plates hobby/business stories (with which my wife had told me NOT to bore everyone…then my buddy Mike Johannsen laughed as he shared this classic anecdote…he was at a car show recently and was accosted by a women who accused him of animal cruelty by shooting cats and bragging about it with his license plate selection…little did the woman know that Mike was a former Navy combat pilot who flew fighter jets off of aircraft carriers during ‘that war’…and as some of you vets might know, the launch process was referred to as a “catshot’!!…hence Mike’s affinity plate choice…apparently the woman was not impressed and never offered Mike the ‘thanks for your service’ compliment!!…btw, also included in our Shorty’s group was Dexter Lehtinen, another VietNam veteran, who as an attorney in Miami served in the District Attorney’s office…GAP and all of your friends are grateful for Mike’s and Dexter’s unselfish patriotism!
