A few months ago we were contacted by Caleb Wolfram…he was inquiring about one of our 1965 Florida plates in our personal collections he had seen on the Great American Plates website…as many of you know, Florida previously identified its plates with the county coding of 1 through 67, with 2 the designation for Duval County…and guess where Caleb and his Mustang are located?…Jacksonville!!….we normally don’t sell plates from our personal collection, but Caleb’s persistence paid off….here’s part of his pitch:… “Hello, for nearly the past year I have been looking for the perfect plate for my 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, lovingly named Ruthie after my Great-Grandmother. I’m 17 and I bought the car as a restoration project for my dad and I to work on together. As I said before I’ve been hunting for a meaningful plate for her for quite some time. I recently found your website and saw you own a 1965 Florida License plate with the tag 2 – 7. I live in Jacksonville, Florida where, as Iā€™m sure a plate collector as yourself knows, 2 stands for Duval county. As for the 7, it has been a very coincidental number throughout the course of the last year. One of the often joked about family stories shared of my great-grandmother is when she once was reciting a phone number but the digits turned to her trailing off saying 7, 7, 7. Interestingly enough the last 3 digits of the car’s vin were -777. This sealed the deal for me and I purchased the car. On the way to pick it up, a car passed me with a plate reading “Ruthie 7ā€. …..so how could we say no?!…enjoy the ride Ruthie and Caleb!…
